Starbucks had announced it was going to give a free coffee to those who voted today...until election officials in the state of Washington informed them that federal law prohibits payment of money, goods or services in return for voting. I think they retooled it to where they are just giving everybody a free tall cup, but you should vote anyhow and THEN go get your caffeine fix.
In other election/coffee news, as things come down to the wire, Barack Obama has a 20% lead over John McCain in the all-important 7-Election 2008. For those not familiar w/ this crucial election barometer, coffee drinkers at 7-Eleven can choose from one of two cups bearing their candidates name and the 'votes' have been tallied and reported each week in USA Today. Said 'voters' have successfully predicted the last two elections...w/ the 2004 results coming in IDENTICAL to the actual popular vote.
Frankly, I don't put much faith in polls, but I do love me a good cup of coffee! GO VOTE!
